Pontypridd Town AFC is a Welsh football club, based in the town of Pontypridd, Mid Glamorgan. The club was formed in 1992 after merging with another team, Ynysybwl. The club plays in the Welsh Football League.

In April 2006 manager Ryan Nicholls earned success at the first attempt as The Dragons of Pontypridd beat the Corinthians of Cardiff 4-1 at Ynysangharad Park to secure promotion (for the 2006/2007 season) to the Welsh Football League Championship. Nicholls also took The Dragons to Round Four of the prestigious FAW Welsh National Cup. Earlier in the competition they had knocked out the Division 2 and Division 1 champions (Pontardawe Town & Ton Pentre) as well as the biggest giantkilling of the season - a 1-0 home win over Vauxhall Master Welsh Premier League side Aberystwyth Town.

The team manager for the 2007/08 season was Mal Camilleri but after the clubs relegation to division two, the club was on the brink of collapse. Discussions between Ponty Town and Treforest began with a view to a merger however stark opposition from the amateur league prevented the merger from happening.

At the 11th hour, the club received an investment and has been saved. It is now managed by Vastly experienced defender who took over as Ponty's player/manager in 2009 after coaching at Graig FC in 2008 and previously spent ten years at Burton Albion and played under Nigel Clough before joining Worcester then Gresley, Allan Davies.

In the 2010/11 season, they started erratically, but since January they were on fire, as they lost just 2 out of 20 games and they were on top of the table for more than 2 months. In the last week of the season, although they won the last game, they missed out to be promoted to Division 2 because of goal differences.
